Questions for Reckless Tortuga

Hey Guys,
I thought we would take a minute and answer some of your questions. Here are some of the FAQ’s:

When is Online Gamer coming back and is it over?

A: We are trying to get you guys at least one Online Gamer episode a month. If you look back we have been pretty consistent with the release of Online Gamer and we are not stopping the series by any means so don’t fret Online Gamer will be back.

What is the song you use in the intro of Online Gamer Season 2?

A: We use a stock track from Apple’s Garageband.

Why do you only put up one video a week?

A: For the most part, everything you see on Reckless Tortuga is scripted. When you do scripted shows you can’t just shoot everything from 1 angle and throw it up online. This stuff actually takes quite a bit of time. We have to write every script, get all the actors together, find the locations, shoot multiple angles and takes, go through about 5 rounds of editing, color correction, sound mixing and then finally encoding the video for upload.

To put it simply there is quite a lot of work that goes into each episode you see. We also don’t have a staff of people who work for us. There is one camera man (Clark Huff), a sound guy (Mark Burton), an assistant editor (Russell Kato), and Jason, Lindsey and Eric. So we only have the capacity at this point to get you about one video a week. We are hoping to change that soon.

Where do I get that Black Ops Hoodie from Online Gamer?

A: The simple answer is you can’t. We got them as gifts and to our knowledge there are no more.

Why do you censor your content on YouTube?

A: When we first started we didn’t censor anything. We just threw it up there as it was shot, but when we did the Basement one of our videos got flagged. It really ruined the series that we spent a lot of time and money making. It was soon after that we realized we needed a site to protect our content and have a place where it could be viewed as it was intended. It was a way for us to keep writing the jokes the way we always have and protect us from being flagged or taken down.

Why can’t I watch the videos on the site?

A: Well, Jason wrote a blog post covering exactly why this is, but we will give a quick update to what’s happening.
It looks like for now RecklessTortuga.com is going to be a US only site. There really is not enough of you who want to pay a subscription service. We only got about 200 responses and it is very expensive just to setup. We are still looking into other options on how to do it without it costing us money but it’s just not there yet. We will keep you guys updated on how this goes.

How do I join Reckless Tortuga?

A: Currently there are over 20 different actors in Reckless Tortuga and we tend to use people over and over. You will see for the most part the same faces showing up again and again. That being said, we have done casting before and we will do it again. We are based in Los Angeles and we post our casting notices on LA Casting. So if you are an actor and want a shot at a role, sign up for LA Casting and we will post Reckless Tortuga in the headline of the role.
